CHILDREN
Children are the mortar that binds
the years of our lives.
They provide an anchor and a consistency
to each day.
We may swell our chests in pride
at their accomplishments
And flatter ourselves thinking
that they mirror some real or imagined
talents of our own.
Yet as we watch them each day
We may be assured that they
Are the summation of their own experiences
And an accumulation of the situations
which they encounter.
We are important, however,
As we attempt to steer them
Into proper situations
and worthwhile experiences.
They also serve to remind us
of our own mortality,
As we observe them
racing through their own lives.
Children are indeed a gift of God.
